First Aid Preparation

Last week Adam and I took a wilderness first-aid class to learn about backcountry medicine and further prepare for what we might face in Nepal. It was a great experience to understand what to do in different medical emergencies as well as how to remain calm in stressful situations.

The course consisted of 16 hours of class divided up over two days, with both classroom instruction and situational practice. Having the situational practice was very helpful to put what we had just learned into real-life practice and engrain it in our memory.

During the night we camped out in a tent, both to test our new supplies and get accustomed to being outdoors. It was a great way to get used to camping and spend some time together outside.

Good review of the first aid class. It was very encouraging to this Grandma. Sounds like you learned some really valuable skills. Thanks, Dawson, Sr. for insisting on this specialized course.

Blessings, Dawson and Adam, on your mission. We look forward to following you as you share your experiences. Take good care of each other.
