Life in Peru

Machu PicchuWe have been having a good time in Peru. It is a beautiful country with many sites to see. This past week, we went to Colca Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world. It was a three day trek, most of it very steep. Some parts were straight up, others, straight down. On the way to the canyon, we stopped at El Cruz del Condor, where we got to see the majestic birds close and personal. The trek was incredible with spectacular views. We all had a great time.

We have moved out of our old apartment and are home sitting an American family’s house while they are gone. The timing really worked out perfectly. Our first month that we spent in Peru was very focused on language school and seeing Cusco. For the next five weeks we will focus on homeschool and volunteering opportunities. Yesterday, my brother and I each bought a charango, which we are very excited about. We aren’t very good yet but it is an Andean instrument that we are eager to play.

We have been very fortunate not to be sick (except me once). Living in Peru has been very fun and different. This experience will stick with us for the rest of our lives.
